KPG SIMPOK, Padawan – The Kpg Simpok Zone of St Ann’s Parish held its first Family Day mini festival on 27 November. It was held in conjunction with the Archdiocesan Year of the Family so that parishioners could gather for a community activity. The event was a modest affair which incorporated sports, recreational and fund-raising activities.
The sports and games took place was at the Kpg Mundai sports field. St Bonaventure’s Church (Kpg Mundai) hosted the day’s events. The day’s activities commenced with a prayer led by the prayer leader, followed by a short speech by organising chairman, John Sapin.
There were ten events in all and the winners later received their prizes. There was also a game of musical chairs which was open to all. From the sports field, all adjourned to the community hall for lunch.
Indoor activities followed in the hall with fund-raising via entertainment and lucky draws. The money raised was handed over to the organising committee for the Church Fund.
The well-conducted mini-festival reflected the initiatives of the lay leaders to keep the zone active by holding faith-related activities.
