KUCHING – Members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP) from the Archdiocese of Kuching gathered for a two-day retreat at the Ranchan Resort, Serian from 8-9 November.
Some 80 SSVP members and their families from the five conferences as well as members from the Catholic Welfare Services Sarawak attended the retreat conducted by Fr Augustine Jepy, spiritual advisor for the SSVP Archdiocesan Council of Kuching.
The theme of the retreat was ‘We are A Pilgrim People’. Fr Jepy gave two talks based on the theme – ‘Drive to Go Forward’ and ‘Power of the Holy Spirit’. Both talks touched on the Christian journey of faith, to be courageous to face challenges, to have a spirit of poverty and be witnesses to the world. These are very much relevant to the Vincentian apostolate where challenges are aplenty in this modern society. Fr Jepy also reminded the participants that the gathering of the Vincentian family is an expression of solidarity and encouragement to one another.
In between, participants were given opportunity to pray and reflect on the talks. Participants were also able to socialise with members from other conferences especially during meal times.
The retreat concluded with Mass and fellowship lunch.
