SARIKEI – The newly-elected parish councillors of St Anthony’s Parish were installed by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Hii during the Sunday Mass on 5 October. Bishop Hii who was on his first pastoral visit to St Anthony’s Parish after his ordination as Auxiliary Bishop of the Sibu Diocese was given a warm welcome by the parish councillors upon his arrival at the Church.
In his short address to the parish councillors during the installation, Auxiliary Bishop Hii congratulated them for being elected to serve the parish. He added that their service should be modelled on Jesus Christ who humbly washed the feet of his apostles. He appealed to the parishioners to work closely with the Parish Council for the betterment of the Church. He was confident that the Parish Council would become the model for other parishes.
