KUCHING – The Holy Cross Ministry of Deliverance & Healing celebrated its 26th anniversary by gathering for a dinner fellowship at a popular restaurant on 21 September.
The Holy Cross Ministry started as a home Rosary prayer group in Kuching in 1982. Somehow, God’s power of deliverance and healing flowed through this group. It evolved into a charismatic prayer group, and later, a Ministry of Deliverance & Healing.
Its outreach programmes over the years include conducting seminars on Spiritual Growth, Deliverance & Healing. The seminars, which have been conducted in Sabah, Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, have often included public healing and deliverance sessions in Catholic churches.
About 160 current and past leaders and prayer warriors took time to reflect on the blessings of God that they had received through the works of the Ministry. Indeed, many were only able to have a real experience of God’s transforming love and power working in their lives after learning how to grow spiritually through the Prayer Warrior Training conducted by Alexius Bong and his team of trainers through the years.
In his welcoming speech, the Founder and Chairman of the Ministry, Stephen Bong, gave thanks to God for the provision of the charisms of deliverance and healing that had worked in and through the prayer warriors and leaders. Stephen also thanked all those who had given their unwavering support for the Ministry.
Stephen also gave much encouragement to those present by sharing a testimony from a Sarawakian couple now living in the United States that was reported in an American newspaper. During pregnancy, the couple were told by their medical practitioner to expect a still-born baby as a result of a serious medical condition. However, after Stephen prayed through the phone for the baby via the mother, the child was found to be perfectly normal after a caesarean birth.
The Ministry was also deeply honoured with the presence of Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung, Fr Simon Poh, and Fr Albert Jacobse.
The Archbishop Emeritus reaffirmed his strong support for the Holy Cross Ministry: The Holy Cross Centre was blessed and officially declared open by himself in 1993, and he also gave his full approval for the first book published by the Ministry in 2000, Importance of Deliverance & Healing for Spiritual Growth.
