REMEMBERING INDEPENDENCE…About 55 Indonesian migrant workers and university students marked their Independence Day (17 August) with a special Mass and fellowship at St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish. The Bahasa Malaysia Mass that day in the Cathedral included special prayers for Indonesia. In addition, the Indonesians participated in the Mass by proclaiming the readings, leading the prayers of the faithful, and making the offertory presentation. As part of the offertory, they presented their national flag. After the Mass, they met at the Parish Gallery for a social gathering which included getting to know each other, singing hymns and their national anthem, cutting a cake, and sharing lunch together. This activity was coordinated by the Legion of Mary. The migrants enjoyed the activity to celebrate their independence day, and the opportunity to meet each other.
