KUCHING – The Parish Council of St Joseph’s Cathedral organised the parish annual dinner with the theme ‘Christ Born unto the Family’ on 29 December at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre.
The dinner was attended by more than 800 persons, including Archbishop John Ha and Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung as guests of honour, priests and representatives from other parishes.
Fr Nicholas Ng, Rector of St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish, in his address said that the Parish which is a family of faith has every reason to celebrate the joyous birth of Jesus.
In his speech, Archbishop John Ha said that the parish community is a family of God which is a “family of families”. He congratulated St Joseph’s Parish Council for successfully organising activities for the Year of the Family of Faith. As the Archdiocese embarks on the Family of Hope in 2008, the Archbishop appealed to every parishioner in every family to fully support and actively participate in the pastoral activities organised by the Parish.
A variety of lively entertainment items was presented including singing of Christmas carols by the Kuching Young Christian Students (KYCS), CHOICE, Heavenly Melodies and St Mark’s Youth, line dancing by the Ladies Guild, and sketch and dance presentations by the Empowered Youth Ministry.
The dinner concluded with lucky draws, the singing of Christmas carols and blessing by Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung.
