KUCHING – On 29 February, some 80 members and friends of the Bread of Life Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community witnessed the installation of three new elders – Allan Tan, Paul Wong and Lukas Jenka – during a Mass at the Chapel of Mother Mary (Stutong). The Mass was celebrated by the Spiritual Director of the Community, Fr Augustine Jepy.
As the Community has grown over the years, more pastoral care is needed to give sufficient support to its increasing members. Hence, new elders were appointed to assist the present Body of Elders under the servant-leadership of the Presiding Elder, Peter Wong and two elders, Peter Lau and Terrance Chen.
The new elders took their pledge of commitment to the community after serving as trainee elders for the past three years and with much discernment, prayer and support by the whole Community.
During his homily, Fr Jepy preached on loving God whole-heartedly, loving one another, being united and staying faithful to the calling of God in the Community. He reminded the elders and all those present of what it means to be in a community – accepting one another and giving our all for each other. He also congratulated the new elders on their appointment and presented them with a token each – a papal crucifix blessed by the Holy Father.
The celebration of the night ended with light refreshments outside the Chapel after Mass.
