SARIKEI – The newly-elected Parish Council of St Anthony’s Parish held a fellowship lunch on 18 May at a local restaurant, with the objectives to welcome the new parish councillors, to bid farewell to seminarian Simon Lau, and to express appreciation to the out-going councillors. The fellowship lunch was attended by 30 Parish Councillors, including the Rector, Fr Joseph Sebastian, and seminarian Simon Lau.
Fr Joseph, in his speech, thanked Simon Lau for working with him for the past four months. Simon Lau was posted to the Parish for his pastoral immersion programme and is returning to St Peter’s College to continue his studies.
Fr Joseph also extended his gratitude to all the Parish councillors for their support and assistance over the years in running the Parish. He also thanked all the lay movements for their role in building up the Church. He looked forward to working with the new Parish Council.
Letters of Appreciation were given to the out-going parish councillors for their service rendered during the term of office.
