KUCHING – Families were encouraged to come together for a Life in the Spirit Seminar with the theme ‘Holy Spirit in the Family’ at the Tan Sri William Tan Auditorium, St Joseph’s Secondary School from 16-18 May. The Seminar was conducted by the Bread of Life Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community for St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish.
About 85 participants, excluding young children, attended this Seminar. Parents brought their children and youths for a spirit-filled weekend of talks, testimonies and fellowship.
The programme started on 16 May with an introduction on praise and worship by Peter Lau, and a talk on ‘God’s Love for the Family’ by Terence Lim.
On 17 May, Michael Lee presented ‘Salvation for the Family’, followed by a life testimony by one of the members of the Community. After the workshop cum confession and counselling was a talk on ‘Inner Healing’ by Isabella Wong. The day ended with an Inner Healing session.
Three more talks were given on 18 May – on ‘New Family Life’ by Simon Remek (followed by a testimony by his wife Adliene Mandie), ‘God’s Gift for the Family’ by Paul Wong and ‘Baptised in the Spirit’ by Peter Lau who proceeded to lead the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
After that, participants of the Seminar came up to share on how the Lord had touched them through the talks and testimonies presented throughout the Seminar. Some participants received the gift of tongues during the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and some were healed of their past hurts during the Inner Healing session.
A Mass was presided by Fr Nicholas Ng, Rector of St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish, who emphasised the unity of the family, mirroring the image of the Holy Trinity.
The Seminar ended with a follow-up talk on ‘Family Transformation’ by Peter Wong in place of the usual Sunday Prayer Meeting at the Day Chapel of the Cathedral.
