KUCHING – Mr and Mrs Yoong Fan Ngian, the managers of the Alpha Malaysia Family Development Programme in Kuala Lumpur, were at Holy Trinity Parish (Kenyalang Park) on 30 May to give parishioners a preview of ‘The Marriage Course’ and ‘The Marriage Preparation Course’. This was followed by a one-day training session on 31 May.
About 20 participants, mostly married couples, took part in the training session. The session was intended to train participants how to run and facilitate the two programmes.
The Alpha Marriage Course is a series of eight sessions designed to help married couples strengthen their relationship. Each session builds on the previous one and introduces skills for building strong foundations, communicating, resolving conflict, forgiving, handling parents and in-laws, enjoying sex and love in action. This programme is a great opportunity for married couples (irrespective of the length of their marriage) to spend time together as a couple to look at important issues in their marriage. It is a very practical course which helps equip married couples with tools to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime.
The Marriage Preparation Course covers five sessions, covering similar topics and meant for those about to get married.
Mr and Mrs Yoong, who have vast experience in the family ministry, shared the practicalities involved in running the two courses.
The Holy Trinity Parish Family Ministry is currently continuing with the sessions on The Marriage Course among married couples from various parishes who took part in the training session as a pilot programme to familiarise themselves with the course before opening it to others.
